Norman Jackson Family Centre

This project for London Borough of Richmond upon Thames involved collaborations with Kingston University Landscape Architecture students and six artists/makers (see links page).

The newly built family centre required an outdoor space that would inspire young children through sensory exploration. We assembled designs from the students to create a practical solution within budget constraints that serves the priorities of the children, staff and parents using the garden.

The garden includes many unique features including:
a custom built Cedar clad wall containing hands on artworks for sight and touch;
a metal tree sculpture from which childrens art can be hung;
a ‘musical’ water feature;
steel talking tubes that children can use to communicate across the garden;
interactive sound booths that play many different stories and sound effects.

Bringing all these artists and contractors together required many months of careful preparation and project management skills from our team.
